Christopher was born on the 12th of January 1848 at Wragby. His father is given as Philip Elmhirst Duckering, gardener and his mother as Mary Duckering, formerly Bryan of Wragby. (Christopher's birth certificate. David Daniels 15.6.96)

Christopher's first trade was as a joiner based in East Barkwith. (Daniels/Jill Dyson 22.4.96)

During the 1880's the family moved back to East Barkwith where he still continued to work as an Estate Agent to Mr Edmund Turnor at "The Grove". (Daniels/Jill Dyson 22.4.96)

Christopher and Alice were married at West Barkwith Church. He was a 'joiner' and the witnesses were Philip Duckering (gardener), Christopher's father and Robert Pickwell (farmer), Alice's father. Other witnesses were Christopher Kirkman and Bertha Duckering. (Taken from the marriage certificate. David Daniels - 21.6.96)

Christopher's death certificate states cause of death as ' acute congestion of liver and stomach, haematemesis and debility' certified by N.C.F. Shepherd M.B.. (Daniels/Jill Dyson -30.4.96)

The Will of Christopher Duckering.
'This is the last Will and Testament of Christopher Duckering of East Barlkwith in the County of Lincoln Estate Agent I appoint Ian Luarson of West Barkwith in the same County farmer and Ezra Duckering of East Barkwith aforesaid Seed and Manure Merchant (herein after called " my trustees") to be the Executors and Trustees of this my Will and I bequeath to each of them the sum of Ten poundsfor his trouble And I appoint my dear Wife Alice during her life and after her death my Trustees or the survivors or survivor of them to be the guardian and guardians of my infant children. I give all my plate linen china glassbooks pictures prints wines liquors furniture and other household effects to my said Wife absolutely I devise and bequeath all my real and personal estate not hereby otherwise disposed of unto my Trustees Upon trust that my Trustees shall sell call in and convert into money the same or such part thereof as shall not consist money and shall with and out of the money produced by such sale calling in and conversion and withand out of such part of my personal estate as shall consist of money pay my funeral and testamonitary expenses and debts and shall with the consent in writing of my said Wife during her lifetime and after her decease at the discretion of the Trustees invest the residue of this said moneys with power formy Trustees from time to time with such consent or at such discretion as aforesaid to vary such investments and shall stand possessed of the said residuary trust moneys and the investments for the time being representing the same ( here in after called the residuary trust funds ) upon the trusts following ( that is to say ) In trust to pay the income thereof to my said Wife during her life if she shall so long continue my Widow And from and after her decease or second marriage (subject to the provision for setting apart and investing the sum of Eight hundred pounds in the event of her marriage herein after contained) In trust for all my children who being Sons have attained or shall attain the age of twenty one years or being Daughters have attained or shall attain that age or shall marry in equal shares and if there shall be only one such child the whole to be in trust for that child I Maps always that if any such child of mine shall die in my life time having a child or children who shall survive me and being a Son or Sons shall attain the age of twenty one years or being a Daughter or Daughters shall attain that age or marry then and in every case the last mentioned child or children shall take (and if more than one equally between them ) the share which his her or their parent would have taken of and in the residuary trust funds under any of the provisions of this my Will if such parent had survived me and attained the age of twenty one years And I declare that my Trustees shall in the event of the second marriage of my said Wife set apart and invest the sum of Eight hundred pounds and pay the annual income arising there from to her for her life and after her decease shall divide the said sum equally amongst my children according to the trusts here in before declared in their favour concerning the residuary trust funds And I declare that my Trustees may with the consent in writing of my said Wife during her life and after her decease at the discretion of my Trustees raise any part or parts not exceeding together one Births Census Deaths Photos Places of the expectant share of any child or grandchild under this my Will and apply the same for his or her advancement preferment or benefit as my Trustees with such consent or at such discretion as aforesaid shall think fit And I also declare that all moneys liable to be invested under this Will may be invested in their names in the public stocks or funds of Great Britain or from any securities guaranteed by the Government of Great Britain or of India or of any British Colony or of the United States of America or upon stock of the Bank of England or in the shares bonds or debentures of any Railway Company or other public company in the United Kingdom orin India or in any Colony or Dependency of the United Kingdom orin any Foreign Country or upon Births Census Deaths Photos Places of any messuages lands or hereditaments in England or Wales being freehold or copyhold of inheritance or held upon any baseor leases perfertially revservable or for any term or terms of years of which ??? less than twenty years shall ????????
