William had a ranch at Big Sandy, Montana, which Don says is like the 'bald prairie'. Don recollects as a child that William had a large car, which he had cut down and used for chasing coyotes. (Don 20.12.96)

William C. Duckering, age 78 years, died last Wednesday in a Havre hospital where he had been a patient since last September. He had his hip crushed when a porch roof fell on him while he was helping build.
He is survived by his widow, Emma; three daughters, Mrs. C.A. Hunt, of Great Falls, Mrs. A. O. Cleveland and Mrs. R. H. Cornett, of Big Sandy; nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; three stepsons, Paul, Albert of Loma, and Basil Mertz, Rudyard. Funeral was Saturday afternoon at the M. E. church in Big Sandy. Burial was in the local cemetery. ........................................
