Notes for William Clark DUCKERING
William had a ranch at Big Sandy, Montana, which Don says is like the 'bald prairie'. Don recollects as a child that William had a large car, which he had cut down and used for chasing coyotes. (Don 20.12.96)

William C. Duckering, age 78 years, died last Wednesday in a Havre hospital where he had been a patient since last September. He had his hip crushed when a porch roof fell on him while he was helping build.
He is survived by his widow, Emma; three daughters, Mrs. C.A. Hunt, of Great Falls, Mrs. A. O. Cleveland and Mrs. R. H. Cornett, of Big Sandy; nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; three stepsons, Paul, Albert of Loma, and Basil Mertz, Rudyard. 
Funeral was Saturday afternoon at the M. E. church in Big Sandy. Burial was in the local cemetery.

1956 Great Falls Tribune, Montana, Sunday 24 June, page 14. Mrs. Emma Duckering. Fort Benton - Mrs. Emma Mertz Duckering, 87, Big Sandy, died in the hospital here Saturday. Born Sept. 22, 1869, in Boonsboro, Md., she came to Montana as a girl, and was married to Lewis Mertz, Dec. 22, 1887. He died in 1942, and she later married to William Duckering who died in 1948. Surviving are sons, Basil of Rudyard, Paul of Fort Benton, and Albert of Loma; seven grandchildren, and sisters, Mrs Dollie Wolfe of Boonesboro, and Mrs. Minnie Flook of Hagerston, Md. Funeral services will be held at Big Snady, Wednesday at 2pm. The Benton Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. (www.newspapers.com 13th March 2023)
