Notes for Leslie DUCKERING
Leslie attended Martin Primary School. During the war years he gained his City & Guilds in Welding & Agricultural Engineering from Lincoln Techinical College. (Ethel)

Leslie served his apprenticeship as a blacksmith with Harry Mayfield in Martin. He then moved to Ruskington and then went to work for a Mr Wright at Potterhanworth. He worked for W.J.Parker & Sons of Blankney. In July 1956 he left Parkers, so that they could move to Metheringham, so that Ethel could go to the school their. Leslie then worked for Fred Townsends and built up the agricultural side of the business. The Townsend Group now having depots at Lenith, Horncastle, Grantham and Metheringham. Leslie retired in 1976, but worked part-time until his death. (Ethel)

On 26th September 1972, at St George’s Hospital, Doris Annie, aged 69 years, of 44 Princess-street, Metheringham, dearly beloved wife of Leslie, and loving mother of Ethel Mary. 'DUCKERING - In loving memory of my dear mother, Doris, who passed away 25 years ago, September 28th. Also birthday memories of my dear father Leslie, who would have been 86 years' old today.
