Ethel attended Blankney Primary School from 1945 to 1951, then Kestevew & Sleaford High School from 1951 to 1958, gaining 8 'O'& 1 'A' level, then attended Northern Counties Training, followed then by College of Cookery & Domestic Science, at Newcastle upon Tyne from 1958 to 1961 gaining a Higher National Diploma. 'On completing my training I held the post of Head Cook Catere at College Hall - a newly built University Hall of Residence here in Leicester. In 1969 I was promoted to Domestic Bursar and left in April 1975 when I joined Leicestershire County Council as Catering Organiser for the School Meals Service. In 1989 I was promoted to Senior Client Catering Officer and took early retiremnet in March 1993. Now that I am retired I spend my time gardening and playing golf and do four keep fit sessions forAge Concern each week. (From Ethel's letter 12.3.96)

Duckering Ethel Mary Former area organiser of Leicestershire County Council school meals. Passed away at the Leicester Royal Infirmary on Friday 15th May 2015 aged 75 years.
