Samuel, widower and Dorothy Smith married on the 29th of August 1797 at Horsington. This is recorded in the Parish Register by John Mourney, Curate. (David Daniels 15.6.96 & Mark 14.5.97)

The Gentleman’s Magazine (London), Volume 95, page 183 records ‘1804 Obituary, with Anecdotes, of remarkable Persons. Accidentally drowned, in the parish of Tupholme, near Bardney, co. Lincoln, Samuel Duckering, of Ossington, farmer.’

Samuel's death is recorded as drowning on 21st Januaryt 1804 in the Horsington Register by John Mourney, Curate. (David Daniels 15.6.96) This is the burial date.

Samuel's date of death was the 19th of January 1804, which is recorded on the valuation of his estate. Dorothy had herself appointed as the administrator of her husbands estate. On the 25th of February 1804 the value was declared as less then £300. See copy on file. (David Daniels 15.6.96)

I assume that Mary died in giving birth to Mary. Note Mary was baptised the 17th of November 1792 and there is the record of Samuel and Dorothy marrying in 1797.

Samuel's marriage to Mary WRIGHT, spinster was on the 23rd ofFebruary 1781 at the Chapel Horsington. The ceremony was conducted by Will White the Curate and witnessed by Joseph Turner and Thomas Farrow. Samuel signed his name, Samuel Drury DUCKERING. Mary made her mark.
