Notes for Thomas DUCKERING
Is the right Thomas, I think so, because Ann is wife died in Fleet in 1831.
Stamford Mercury, 17 October 1834. Mr Thomas Duckering’s Affairs. Whereas Thomas Duckering, of Fleet Fen Ends, in the county of Lincoln, farmer, hath, by Indenture of Assignment dated 7th day of October instant, assigned all his personal estate and effects unto certian Trustees therein named, upon trust for the equal benefit of all such of his Creditors as shall accede to the same wihtin three calendar months. Notice is therefore hereby given, that the said Indenture is placed at my office for the perusal and signature of such of the said Creditors as are desirous of availing themselves of the provisions thereof. All persons who are indebted to the said Thomas Duckering are requested forth with to pay the amount of their respective debts at my office in Spalding. By order, JAs Walker, Soilicitor, Spalding, 14th October, 1834.
On the marriage certificate of Thomas, his son, Thomas's occupation is given as Maps - 1838. (Michael D. 20.8.96)
On Joseph's marriage certificate, Thomas's occupation is given as 'Tradesman' - 1838. (See copy of certificate on file)
Did Thomas marry Ann ? I have speculated that it is this Thomas because of his age.
On his daughter Sarah's certificate, her father's occupation is farmer - correct relationship ?
Notes for Ann (Spouse 1)
I have searched Ann Lilley for Lincolnshire 10 years either side of 1783 and the 3 nearest are 1780 Scotter, 1784 Revesby, 1786 Sempringham. Scotter feels to early and is I think to far North. Sempringham I think is to late and to far South. Revesby 1784 is the closest to 1783 and is only 13 miles via Horncastle from Horsington, where Thomas was baptised and probably living. Langton where they married is midway between the two locations. I have assumed they probably met in Horncastle, being the nearest large location to both villages.
