“Counterpart of lease to Samuel Duckering of the Rectory of Alford in the Marsh with the Chapel of Risgby for 7 years from Lady Day 1792 at an annual rent of £84., 1792-03-13” Source: archivesearch.lib.cam.ac.uk 2021

From original indenture dated 24th Sept. 1791, records a payment of £1950 ‘received’ by Frances Boyes and SI think Samuel Duckering has signed as a witness. Original on file.

Will - summarised.
'Will of Samuel DUCKERING of Tothby in the Parish of Alford, Lincolnshire, Grazier, 1 July 1799.
1. To my daughter Elizebeth wife of Samuel GOE of Louth, surgeon and apotheary, all my Lands Tenements and Hereditaments in - and Sloothby in the Parish of Willoughby which I purchased of Mr Bealy.
2. To my daughter Mary DUCKERING all my Messuages Lands Tenements and Hereditaments in Sloothby which I purchased of Messr Wright and Brackenbury containing 36 acres (more or less).
3. Also a Cottage or Tenement in 13 acres of land (more or less) at Mumby cum Chapel and Hogsthorpe which I purchased of Samuel Goes and Elizabeth his wife and also in my own occupation, to my said daughter Mary Duckering.
4. To Ruth Eyre of Sloothby widow the cottage or Tenement Yard and Garden with the appurtenances at Sloothby now in her occupation for the term of her natural life and after her decease to my servant Mary Chevins her heirs and assigns.
5. To Ann the wife of - Soft of - shopkeeper Twenty pounds.
6. To my said daughter Mary DUCKERING Twenty pounds.
7. To Mr George ALLATT of Markby in the Marsh, Grazier, to Mrs Dennis wife of Mr Charles DENNIS of - Grazier, to Mr Christopher TAYLOR of Well, Grazier, to Mr Robert ERPINGHAM of Mumby cum Chapel, and to my servant Samuel ROBINSON, the sum of Five pounds to be paid directly after my decease.
8. To my daughter Mary DUCKERING all the furniture in my -Tankard and such one of my beds bedding and furniture as she shall think proper to make choice of.
9. All the residue to my son William DUCKERING, also to be the sole Executor.

Samuel has a memorial in Alford Church that reads as follows: ‘ In memory of Samuel Duckering, Who was Lay-Rector of this Parish 39 years; And departed this Life The 9th day of March 1800, in the 55 Year of his age.’ (See picture)

Willoughby cum Sloothby, Banns of marriage between Samuel Duckering and Mary Wells were published on May the 22d & 29th & on June 5th 1763 by me Samuel Drake, Curate. The said Samuel duckering of the parish of Alford in the County of Lincoln single man and AMry Wells of this parish spinster married in this Church by banns this ninth day of June 1863 by me Samuel Drake, Curate both signed.
