1990 Deaths. Bates. On August 11th 1990 after a long illness, bravely borne, Harold of Borrowash, died peacefully at Derbyshire Royal Infirmary. Dearest husband of Margaret, much loved father of Gillian and Philip and loving grandfather of Richard and Katharine. Funeral Friday August 17th. Service and cremation 11:15am at Markeaton Crematorium. Flowers received at Co-operative Funeral Service 73 Normanton Road, Derby. Telephone 44070.

Mr Harold Bates, son of Mrs E B Bates, of 72, Oxford-street, Derby a research chemist at British Celanses, Ltd., was married at St Peter’s Church, Littleover, on Saturday. His bride was Miss Margaret Mary Duckering, daughter of Mr and Mrs T C Duckering, of 26, Mostyn-avenue, Littleover. The bride, a member of the LMS Divisional Superintendent of Operations staff, was attended by her sister, Mrs J Longdon, and was given away by her father. Mr A Meakin ws best man.
