1993. Duane J. Duckering died Thursday, November 4, 1993, at the Baton Rouge General Medical Center as a result of an automobile accident.
He was 76, a native of Everett, Wash., and a resident of Baton Rouge. He was retired from the Bechtel Corporation and was a consultant at the River Bend Nuclear Power Plant in St. Francisville, La.
He is survived by wife, Ruth Jester Lea Duckering, Baton Rouge; four daughters; and six grandchildren.
Preceded in death by first wife, Lois Funk Duckering.

In Memory of Ruth Jester Duckering January 26, 1918 - September 3, 2012
Ruth Lea Duckering, age 94 entered her heavenly home on September 3, 2012. She was a native of Ashdown, Arkansas, and a resident of Baton Rouge since 1948. She was a bookkeeper and notary during her early years and helped established and also co-managed Lampin's Young World with her sister Lina Lampin. She was a longtime member of Istrouma Baptist Church. Visitation will be at Greenoaks Funeral Home 9595 Florida Blvd. on Wednesday September 5, 2012 from 5pm till 8pm. Visiting will resume at the funeral home on Thursday September 6, 2012 from 1pm till service time at 3:30pm conducted by Rev. Ron Lambe, interment to follow in Greenoaks Memorial Park. Ruth is survived by a daughter Dianne Lea Schumaker, and husband Jerry, of Central; three grandsons David Schumaker and wife Janet, Steven Schumaker and wife Sarah, both of Denham Springs, and Darren Schumaker and wife Angie, of Sugarland, TX., one great-grandson Daniel Schumaker, of Sugarland, TX., four step great-grandchildren C.J. Brewer, Mindy Rizzi, Tyler Green, and Mia Adams. She was greatly loved by numerous nieces and nephews who will miss their "Aunt Ruth". She will be remembered for her smile and kind spirit and her love for people. She was preceded in death by her parents Joe and Ersie Jester, husband Charles Wesley Lea Jr., and second husband Duane Duckering, ten brothers and sisters and an infant grandson. Memorial donations may be made to Paralyzed Veterans, Istrouma Baptist Church or a charity of your choice.
