Notes for John Sanford DUCKERING
John Sandford and Huldah Mae Rose met in Everett, Washington and courted for 8 years, saving for married life. At some point John and Hulda decided to take advantage of the government's offer to Homestead in Montana. John and Hulda's brother went on ahead to establish a residence and the ladies then joined later. They then started a ranching and farming business. Hulda's brother, Bill and his wife Nora, decided it was to hard and returned to Washington in the late 1920's. John and Hulda carried on until 1935 and then returned to Snohomish, a small town near Everett in Washington. Hulda decided not have the children in Montana, as she considered it to primitive, and so returned to Everett and when the babies were six weeks old returned to Montana. John died in 1960.
