Notes for Mary Esther HAMPTON
Married James Frederick Duckering on August 19, 1933 in Kansas City, Jackson, Missouri.

Mary Esther HAMPTON was born on October 29, 1909 in Kansas City, Jackson, Missouri. She was a stenographer in a flour mill in 1930. She died on April 29, 1981 in Independence, Jackson, Missouri and was buried in Mount Washington Cemetery, Independence, Jackson, Missouri.
She was born in the Northeast area of Kansas City in a two-story brick house that her father built. She had nine brothers and sisters that included two sets of twins. She went to Northeast High School and then to a business college. She worked at Western Auto as a stenographer for awhile. She was in a beauty contest as a young woman and won the title of "Miss Northeast". As a child, she had lockjaw and nearly died. The police blocked off the streets for several blocks around her house so that traffic noise would not interfere with her recovery. She never worked outside the home after she married, but she canned all the family's fruits and vegetables and did a beautiful job of making clothes. She died at age 71 of a sudden heart attack.
