Thomas started his career out as a gamekeeper for W. Parker of Blankey in 1948, breaking for his national service from 1952 to 1954. In 1958 he moved to James Dawson and Son as a beltmaker, who are manufacturers of conveyor and fan belts. (Mark D.29.10.96)
