‘Richard Compton met Glynis Duckering in the newsroom of the Durban paper the Daily News in the early 1980s. He was a sports reporter and she was a general reporter and later senior layout and design editor, daughter of an artictic family of teachers. They were married in 1983 and I came long the same year, followed by my sister, Alex, three years later.
