There is an indenture at the Wiltshire records Office, concerning the lease of a cottage in Spelsbury Row, Tisbury from Thomas to his son John. It is dated 12th April 1782 and refers to both of them as 'labourers'. Included in the cottage was hurnate (blacksmiths furnace). Thomas is known to have been making clocks by 1795, as this is the year he made the clock for the parish church at Tisbury. There are records in the Berwick St. John Church Warden Accounts for 1800 April 5th, indicating that Thomas repaired the Church clock - cost £5.5.0. There were a further nine entries up until 1817 at Donhead St Mary. Bothsons Thomas and George followed their father into clock making. Thomas was a bell ringer at Tisbury and apparently a staunch churchman. Thomas's headstone was executed by William, his son and says on it, 'My time is in thy hand.' below the carved clock face the inscription is as follows; ' Here are deposited the remains of Thomas Osmond who, after a terrestial sojourn of eighty years, expired in the humble hope of a blissful eternity, on the 8th of April, 1833. Also of Betty, his wife, who died October 30th 1841, in the 87th year of her age.'
