There are four Ethel Duckering’s who could be John/Jack’s mother and I have chosen Ethel born 1887, Gainsborough for the following reasons.
Ethel born 1887, married Charles Henry Stephenson on the 18th March 1911. In the 1911 Census taken a few days before, she is at home single,, no occupation in Lincolnshire.
Ethel Nora born 1893 died a spinster in 1978. In the 1911 Census she was a boarder in Lincoln. In the 1939 Register she was a Clerk in a Friendly Society.
Ethel Winifred May born 1899 was in 1919 in Canada and married in Canada in 1929.
Ethel born 1891 Gainsborough in the 1911 Census was a Servant in Lincoln. This ties with her occupation on John’s birth certificate. No record can be found for her marriage to a Mr Ford, though an Ethel Ford married a Leonard Douglass in 1943 Scarborough. This ties up with the oral information that was passed to me.
