Cora Frieda (Lambott) Mertz of Othello, Washington died June 23, 2009. She was born on Dec. 27, 1920 in Long Island, N.Y. to parents Arthur and Katherine Lambott. The family moved to Butte in 1925 when she was a young girl.
Cora met her husband, Paul E. Mertz, while working in the Big Sandy area for his mother. They married on Oct. 3, 1938. They farmed for 25 years in the Loma area. She loved to cook, sew, fish and play cards. Paul and Cora had three daughters. They retired to Polson where they enjoyed a leisure life of camping, fishing and playing cards. Cora is survived by a sister, brother, two daughters, seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Paul and sister Mabel Bentcik.7399
