1917. EXEMPTION APPEALS. HEARING AT TE AROHA SITTING AT PAEROA MONDAY LARGE. NUMBER APPEALING
The Auckland Military Service Board is holding its first sitting in this district at Te Aroha to-day and to-morrow to deal with applications for exemption lodged by members of tie first division of the Expeditionary Force Reserve who have been drawn in the ballot under the Military Service Act. The board comprises Messr.-. F. J. Burgess, S.M., chairman, George Elliot, and John McCaw, with Mr Horace Stebbing as secretary. Major J. L. Conlan represented the Defence Department and was assisted by Sergeant-Major J. L. Cotton. Major H. H. Browne, group commander of No. 2 area, is also in attendance. Appeals will be heard in Paeroa on Monday and Tuesday 'next, and at the Thames after the Paeroa sitting. The following appeals will be dealt with: Duckering, Charles James, farmer, Matamata.
