Leamington Spa Courier, 15 January 1904. Separation Order. Mary elizabeth Duckerin, 64, Bedford Street, Leeds applied for an order under the Married Women’s Act against her husband, Walter Oliver Duckerin, 2, Oxford Street, Leamington. The woman said her husband broke up their home at Nottingham, and she had not had a penny fro. him since. He had neither maintained nor offered to maintain her, nor the children, three of whom she had to keep. When working full time he used to earn 38s d a week, but she knew nothing as to his present means. A separation order was granted, the husband to pay fifteen shillings a week, and the wife to have custody of the children.

Leamington Spa Courier, 10 June 1904. Given Another Chance. Walter Olver Duckerin (39) French Polisher, of Nottingham, was charged on a warrant with maintence arrears in respect to his wife. Mary E Duckerin, wife of the defendant, said her husband had not paid anything at all on the order which was made for 15s per week. The arrears in february last were £6 2s 6d and 17s 6d costs. Defendant’s reason for not paying was that he had been out of employment and had only done a month’s work since Christmas until recently, and could now earn in a full week 36s. The case was adjourned for a month so that he could pay 15s a week and anything he could onbtain to clear the arrears.
Leamington Spa Courier, 20 July 1906. Drunk in Charge of a Child. Walter Oliver Duckerin, 12, Tavistock Street, was summoned for being drunk while in charge of a child on the Parade on July 8th. Defendant pleaded guilty. PC Hobbs stated that he saw defendant at 2:20pm. He had with him a child three years of age. Defendant was drunk and staggering about, and he fell in the road. He neraly fell on the little girl. Defendant got up, but a few yards further he fell in a doorway. witness saw hime home, and left the child with defendant’s wife. Fined 10s 6d (including costs).
