The Horsington Parish Register records John as the 'bastard' child of Mary DUCKERING, baptised the 31st of January 1762 and buried the 28th of February 1762 (died 24th February). (LA 1130003 01A, IGI C029431 0190 and Bishop's Transcripts for Horsington (David Daniels 15.6.96)). I have assumed John's mother is this Mary, by the fact of her age and where she lives and there seems to be no other obvious Mary.
