Samuel’s death certificate says he was the parent to 9 children & 6 living at the time of his death. Missing one child.
On Ruth's D. family tree.
The baptism record for Samuel's daughter Mary, indicates that he was a labourer.
The 1851 Census (Parsonage Farm, Filingham Lincs Gainsborouogh District HO 107/2120 folio 321 (4/77)) Parsonage Farm, records Samuel aged 42, married, a shepherd, working for William Glover & born at Willoughton. I have assumed that because his elder brother & his sister Mary were born at Willoughton & that the only information I had on Samuel was he was born in 1809, that it is this Samuel. There is no other Samuel born at Willoughton.
Samuel was born on the 15th January 1808 and died on the 19th September 1899 at Highland, Oakland Co., Michigan, USA. (WFT CD letter 10.3.98) The logic suggests, that because Samuel and Hannah cannot be found in the 1861 Census and their daughter Ann was born in 1852, that they moved to America between 1852 and1861.
Samuel is buried at Milford Oak Grove Cemetery. Milford Oak Grove Cemetery, Milford Michigan. Designated as a Michigan historic site. Oak Grove Cemetery, established in May 1845 was formally named in May 1871. When it was officially designated as the township cemetery, the remains from the area's "old burying ground" begun on the corner of Mill and Washington streets in 1832 were moved to it. Elizur Ruggles, Milford's first white settler, and veterans of the war of 1812 and the civil war are buried here. The site has an early potter's field near the Huron River. The cemetery vault, built to thwart grave robbers and to provide a place to store remains during hard winters, dates back to 1885. In 1980, the vault was restored and a new field stone entrance was built. The original cemetery, which covered 12.76 acres, has expanded over the years to encompass 15.6 acres.
