Notes for Ronald DUCKERING Ron
'..all the Duckerings from this area, were in farming until our generation, as from the 1950's, Ron and his three brothers were farming and then decided to go to Smith Clayton Forge in Lincoln. Ron and Bernard stayed until they retired, Dennis set himself in the building trade and Ted as chauffer, handyman, and both still following that trade.' (Margaret D. letter 7.4.96 (Ron's wife))

Ron was a farm labourer until 1958 at the Nocton Estates, andlived in Dunston Village. Ron and the family stayed there until 1962, when they moved to Bracebridge Heath. Ron worked for Smith Clayton Forge as a furnace man from 1959 to 1991, when he took early retirement. (Margaret 17.5.96)

‘He started work at a young age at a poultry farm before taking up employment at Smiths Crisps - now Nocton Farms - where he stayed for 13 years. Contract work then followed when he was engaged on many sites around Lincolnshire and High Marham Power Station. He married his wife Margaret in 1953, having met her on a Bracebridge Heath bus. The wedding took place at St John’s Church in the village. Mr Duckering went to work at the Smith Clayton Forge in 1958 and he remained with the company until he retired in 1991. Mr Duckering was very well known in Bracebridge Heath, where he had lived since 1962, and enjoyed helping people. The funeral service took place at Lincoln Crematorium.
