Frederick was a grocer and provision dealer in Sheffield. There is an indenture document confirming him as an apprentice grocer in 1883. Before moving to Sheffield soon after 1900, he worked for some years in Nottingham. (Michael D. letter 16.3.96)

Frederick moved to Martin in Lincolnshire in the 1870's. (Michael D. 16.3.96)
