I daresay you will recognise your grand-daughter. I was pleased to receive your letter. Did you get any cabbage broth when you were in Ystradgynlais. We are looking forward to our holidays. Kind Love. Gus & Will.” See copy of card on file.
Notes for William Hinkin (Spouse 1)
William was originally from Ammanford, near Swansea.

William was a workhouse master and later a hospital administrator in Keithley.

Text from a reference letter - see copy on file. “Keighley Union, Union Offices, Keighley, 24th October 1916, Samuel green, Clerk to the Guardians and Assessment Committee. Jas. A. Sharp, Assistant Clerk. Telephone 203.
I am directed by the Guardians of this Union to state that mr William Hinkin Morris and his wife Gusa Morris have filled the office of Master and Matron of the Guardians’ Institution in this Union from the 12th April 1915 to the present time. They also officiate as Superintendents of the Children’s Homes. It would be impossible to speak too highy of their capabilities and conscientousness in the performance of their duties. Though they came to this Union without actual experience of the offices they have justified their selection to an admirable degree. A high state of discipline and efficiency has been maintained by them with economical management. They are systematic, painstaking, expeditious and accurate in their work and every reliance can be placed in the successful carrying out of any matter entrusted to them. Whilst preserving a dignified control over the staff their relations with them have been free from disturbing conflicts and they have invariably been tactful in their work generally.
The Guardians have every confidence in recommending them for any similar post but would exceedingly regret to learn of the relinguishment of their appointment here. I personally wpould be sorry to lose them. (Signed) Sam Green”
