Joseph was a draper and worked from Silver Street in partnershipwith a man called Davis. This partnership being possiblydissolved two or three years later.

Joseph was fourteen years older than Bessie.

Elizabeth, known as 'Bessie', was married in a double weddingceremony with her younger sister Emma, by the Rev. CanonHamilton, who later became the Bishop of Salisbury. Sometimeafter her husbands death, Joseph, Bessie moved to London.
