Notes for Ernest Harold DUCKERING
Moved to Canada in 1903 with Herbert his older brother. (K.Boyce 95)
Remained a batchelor. (Don D., Quentin 23.1.96)
'Leaving Liverpool, England in 1903 on the Mount Temple, Walter, Ernest, Percy and Herbert Duckering with his wife and family came to Canada as part of the Barr Colony. Walter soon returned to England but the others chose homesteads; Ernest on the NE-28-51-2, Herb on the NW-28-51-2 and Percy on the SE-32-51-2.... Percy and Ernest remained bachelors and lived together, Percy doing the cooking and Ernest the field work. Ernest was a butcher by trade and was always willing to help his neighbours at butchering time. Percy often walked to Lloydminster pushing a wheelbarrow and returning with necessary supplies. Ernest and Percy retired to Lloydminster having sold their farm to Keichinger brothers. Ernest passed away in June, 1957. Percy then left Lloydminster and spent some time in Edmonton and Red Deer with relatives. He also lived some months at White Rock, B.C. and Chilliwack, B.C. He made one trip back to England before he passed suddenly in October, 1961.’ (Part of an article sent to me by Shirley Hutzkal 17.3.96)
